SERVICE OVERVIEW

Your project might require decorative painting techniques to take the design level of the project above and beyond.  Our skillful painters have completed many such projects including rag-rolling, graining, gradients, ombres, plaid patterns, Venetian plaster, striping, shapes, patterns and even graphics, among other items.  Owner Christopher Reese taught faux finish clinics as far back as 1996, and Jennifer Reese and Christopher Reese have even developed unique faux finish and decorative painting techniques to accomplish finishes that have been requested.  Ingenuity is often the key to success in creating various patterns and finishes.  Whatever your need is, you can be sure that PA Coatings can create the look you need.

FAQ’s-DECORATIVE AND FAUX FINISHES

  • How do go about creating a faux finish?

Of course it depends on the desired final look, but typically a faux finish starts with a base coat of a non-flat sheen paint that won’t quickly absorb the decorative glaze applied on top of it, so that the glaze remains workable to finesse the look of the finish.  The decorative glaze is generally made by mixing paint with a clear glaze which extends the dry time of the mixture, again for workability or open time.  The final faux finish is then determined by various application techniques and combinations of colors to achieve the vision of the designer.  We always recommend mock-ups and samples of faux finish painting before doing the work.
